Dr. Jeong-Hwa (Julia) Park, Instructor

Dr. Park has been teaching piano for twenty years. She earned her Master’s and Doctoral Degrees from Arizona State University in piano performance. Dr. Park is one of the founding teachers of The Royal Conservatory Music Development Program and also a registered Suzuki teacher. She teaches various styles of music and applies different teaching methods, traditional or Suzuki, according to each student’s age, characteristics and abilities.

Essentially, her teaching is well-rounded whole musicianship in piano learning. With beginners, Dr. Park is especially serious about building up a good foundation in their early stage of piano learning. Most of her students improve steadily in their piano learning  and they perform regularly at recitals and participate in competitions and auditions such as NYSSMA, Carnegie Hall Royal Conservatory Achievement Program and Young Artists Piano Showcase.

Dr. Park is also a certified / registered Suzuki instructor. She received her Suzuki Piano Teacher Training from Ms. Keats and Ms. Obukovsky at The School for Strings in Manhattan.

Her teaching skill is based not only on years of experience but also on her performance skill as a pianist. She has won numerous competitions including a Special Presentation Award from Artists International Presentations in New York, resulting in her New York debut recital at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in 2003. She has been performing continually in U. S. A. and South Korea and has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in various halls, such as LeFrak Concert Hall at Queens College, Yamaha Hall in Manhattan, and Dajeon Arts and Cultural Center in South Korea. She also participated and performed in the London Piano Festival and Master Works Festival at Houghton College in New York. Her performances have also been broadcast on public radio, KBAQ, in Arizona.

In addition to her work as a private piano instructor, Dr. Park is an adjunct faculty member at Nassau Community College; serves on the piano faculty at Center for Preparatory Studies in Music at Queens College and Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. She also serves as Chair of Winter Musicale for AMTL (Associated Music Teachers League) and the Minister of Music at Community United Methodist Church in Massapequa.
